Career Camp [2024]
Career Camp 2023 ran July 8-12, 2024! We heard from four guest speakers, and each student did an Industry Deep-Dive on an informational interview they did. Students reported on everything from county-level government positions to graphic design to transportation engineering. Thank you to all the students and guest speakers who took part.
Career Camp 2024 Speakers
Hoi Nguyen
Hoi is a success- and action-oriented, driven entrepreneur and a highly technical and data-driven digital marketer with previous experience in tech, cloud computing, retail/ecommerce, restaurants, food, and hospitality. Hoi previously founded and operated a fast-casual, Vietnamese catering company, Roll Play: Viet Noms, which was featured on the Rachel Ray Show alongside chef Emeril Lagasse. Roll Play was part of the family at Smorgasburg, NYC's largest and most popular outdoor food market. Hoi currently works at Fourth, a tech company creating solutions for the restaurant and hospitality industry, as their Director of Marketing Operations. Hoi was born in Vietnam, grew up in Boston, MA and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Luis Larco
Luis Larco is a Senior Software Engineer at Alphabet's Moonshot Factory (formerly known as Google X), where he works on Project Taara, delivering internet service to remote areas by using beams of light. He's been at Alphabet for 9 years, where he's been part of many projects including Google Street View, Google AI Healthcare, Android, Loon, and Makani. Luis is originally from Peru, and graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering. During his free time he enjoys biking, snowboarding, playing the bass, and road-tripping.
Sabrina Wang
Sabrina Wang is currently a Director of Media Science at Comcast where she manages a team that uses Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) to understand the effectiveness and efficiency of a $1B media portfolio. Prior to working in Media, she worked in consulting across retail and CPG industries. She graduated from UC Berkeley.
Dr. Courtney J. Riedinger
Dr. Courtney J. Riedinger is a cancer surgeon and gynecologic oncologist practicing in eastern Tennessee. She completed undergraduate and medical training in Kentucky in the Southern US and then on the job career training including residency and fellowship in Tennessee and Ohio in the US. In addition to her clinical practice she is an accomplished researcher. Her research interests include the molecular alterations in endometrial cancer that can be harnessed for treatment as well as metabolic disruption that helps to facilitate ovarian cancer and contribute to resistance to treatment. In her free time, Courtney enjoys playing with her two dogs, running, board games, and trying new restaurants.
